Gender issues in peer review
According to 2012/13 data from the Higher Education Statistics Authority, the gender profile of our academic population is approximately 33% female; 67% male. However, BBSRC data, published early in 2015 indicates that women submitted 21.1% of grant applications to BBSRC, and had a success rate of 25.8%. This compares to a success rate for men of 30.6%, and an overall success rate of 29.9% in 2014.
