Amendment 197

Following consultation and agreement with trade unions, there is an updated BBSRC Biosafety Policy which replaces the previous policy.

If you are maintaining a hard copy of the code you will need to remove appendix 9.13i as its contents are now contained within the Biosafety policy, and print out :

Amendment 196

Following consultation and agreement with trade unions, there is an updated BBSRC Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Policy which replaces the previous policy.

Amendment 195

Following consultation and agreement with trade unions, there is a new Control of Contractors Policy. This policy sets out how the BBSRC will manage contractors whilst they are working on its premises.

Please note that appendix A9.10 was formerly the Policy on HIV, this has been deleted due to being somewhat outdated, however elements of it are covered in other Health and Safety policies.

Amendment 194

Following agreement from the trade unions, the 2015 Pay Award (effective 1 July 2015) has been agreed and implemented, this included a formal ‘buy-out’ of BBSRC’s previous contractual progression arrangements. This amendment details the impact on BBSRC pay and allowances and replaces previous terms and conditions.

Amendment 191

The Individual Grading Review procedure has been reviewed and updated following changes in institute governance resulting in upgrades to band G and above at institutes no longer requiring approval from Swindon Office Senior Management Review Group (SMRG).

Amendment 189

Following consultation and agreement with the trade unions agreement has now been reached to harmonise the Redundancy Policy Framework that sets out the Research Council’s approach for handling redundancy situations.

In addition there is a new harmonised guidance note on ending fixed-term appointments, a BBSRC guidance note on redundancy selection criteria and a flowchart outlining the BBSRC redundancy approval process.
