We funded £1,990,962.50 in total, on behalf of the UK component. The total funding for all participating countries was around £16M.

To build European Synthetic Biology capacity through innovative transnational projects and to addresses the recommendation of the ERASynBio Strategic Vision (see downloads section).

Key aims

  • To address broad research areas within synthetic biology, based on the following definition: "Synthetic biology is the engineering of biology: the deliberate (re)design and construction of novel biological and biologically based parts, devices and systems to perform new functions for useful purposes, that draws on principles elucidated from biology and engineering."
  • To encourage and support activities in responsible research and innovation, community building, training and education, and data and technologies
