Collaborative research with users
We have a responsibility to enable the optimal and successful application of the outcomes of the excellent research it supports with public funding to deliver the widest impact. The research we fund underpins the needs of a variety of different users, including business sectors, which can provide a significant route to application for BBSRC-funded research. Collaboration and engagement with these users increases the potential for impact from research and we encourage applicants to submit applications for collaborative research projects with users and consider user engagement within the pathways to impact statement where appropriate.
Scope and requirements
This priority area encompasses collaborative research projects with users across the breadth of our remit and includes Industrial Partnership Awards and LINK schemes in addition to collaborations that fall out side the scope of these schemes but meet the requirements below:
- The collaborator(s) must be a named project partner and should not be eligible for funding from BBSRC or be an academic institution
- Applicants must show the value of the partnership including the scientific benefits of the project to both parties
- The Pathways to Impact statement should outline how the collaboration will increase the likelihood of impact
Additional support for knowledge exchange
In addition to this priority we also provide a portfolio of mechanisms to enable the development of collaborations, encourage knowledge exchange between academia and users and support the commercialisation of research outputs.
