Purpose

To involve cross-disciplinary studies that will use mathematical and/or statistical analysis and integrate biological data to create appropriate models which can be further refined and tested within the same project.

Key aims

  • To support high quality scientific research in systems biology between France and the UK
  • To use resources from the British and French national funding agencies in a coordinated manner to provide access to skills and expertise that are not always available at a national level, for mutual benefit
  • To facilitate the development of systems biology research both nationally and in Europe by encouraging a wider community to become involved in this activity

Outputs

  1. Support research and establish new collaborations across 8 countries in Europe, with focuses on organisms relevant to bio-energy, health, biotechnology, nutrition and environmental health
  2. Funding posts
  3. Develop a joint data management strategy for the 91 groups to enable the exchange and sharing of information
