Perspectives - a poster session with difference
Research Council funded scientists at the beginning of their career, are invited to propose a poster exploring the social and ethical implications of their research to be exhibited at this year’s BA Festival of Science, at Trinity College Dublin, 5-10 September 2005.
Posters will be judged by a panel of judges and the first prize winner will receive £500 prize money and the opportunity to give a press conference at the Festival. Five runners-up will each get £250 and a people’s choice award of £100 will be voted for by festival attendees.
Perspectives aims to encourage scientists (postgraduate students and post docs), in discussing social implications of their research.
The successful applicants are invited to attend one workshop in London (either on 14, 19 or 27 July) to assist them in designing their poster and preparing for the Festival.
8 scientists from each Research Council will be invited to present their posters to Festival visitors at two sessions on 7 and 8 September between 12 noon and 2.30pm. At other times the scientists will have free access to festival events at the university. Three nights accommodation and travel contribution will be provided by the BA.
All applications must be submitted by Friday 24 June 2005. The successful applicants will be notified by the 1 July and will sent detailed guidelines to assist with the design of their posters.
