Professor John Pickett to give Royal Society's Croonian Prize Lecture
3 June 2008
Professor John Pickett from Rothamsted Research will be delivering the Croonian Prize Lecture at the Royal Society tonight (3 June 2008). This annual event is the Royal Society’s premier lecture in the biological sciences. In a lecture entitled “Plant and animal communication” Professor Pickett will be discussing so-called ‘push-pull’ agricultural techniques. These techniques aim to save crops from pests by mixing in plants that repel insect pests (the ‘push’) and edging the crop with diversionary trap plants that attract the pests away from the crop (the ‘pull’).
The lecture begins at 6.30pm (BST) and will be webcast live on the Royal Society's website. Further information about the lecture can also be found on the Royal Society's website.
