Institute for Animal Health to launch bluetongue testing kit

The Institute for Animal Health (IAH) has developed a fast and highly sensitive bluetongue virus (BTV) detection kit, which will be launched in 2009 in partnership with QIAGEN N.V. The cador BTV RT-PCR kit will detect all 24 known strains of BTV and can be used to test vaccinated animals, which are usually only protected against a limited number of BTV types.
