Research Councils UK review of UK energy research 2010 - nomination of panel members
29 July 2009
The Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) is seeking panel members for the Research Council evaluation of the Energy programme. The review, which will be held in April 2010, is organised by EPSRC on behalf of all UK Research Councils and in conjunction with the learned societies, to provide an independent assessment of the quality and impact of the programme.
A panel of internationally leading researchers (from academia, industry, etc.) from outside the UK, will benchmark the strengths of UK research base compared to those found across the world, highlighting any gaps or missed opportunities. The panel will interact with many UK research groups and have access to a wide pool of experts and supporting data to help reach their conclusions.
The Energy Review 2010 will focus on Energy as a whole, across all Research Councils' remits, and in addition to research excellence will cover knowledge exchange, people and research infrastructure. Following the review, the Panel's report will be presented to the research community, Research Councils and other key stakeholders to stimulate discussion of the findings and initiate development of an action plan to take the recommendations forward.
We now invite your nominations for panel members. A nomination form is available at www.survey.bris.ac.uk/epsrc/energynom which should be completed. In order to obtain an independent view, we seek individuals working outside the UK, including UK nationals, who hold senior positions, currently active in their field of research and be highly effective in team-working situations. Please note that the nomination process will close on 31 August 2009.
