BBSRC Chair elected Honorary Fellow of Society of Biology

Professor Sir Tom Blundell, BBSRC Chair and founding Chief Executive, has been elected an Honorary Fellow of the Society of Biology in recognition of his exceptional achievements in biology.

An Honorary Fellowship is the highest grade of membership of the Society of Biology, and Professor Blundell joins 39 other Honorary Fellows.

Dr Mark Downs, Chief Executive of the Society of Biology, said: "...As a biochemist, Professor Blundell has made significant contributions to our understanding of disease, and this has aided the development of drugs to treat Aids, cancer, cataracts and diabetes."

Professor Sir Tom Blundell is Director of Research and Professor Emeritus of Biochemistry at the University of Cambridge.
