Bioscience community urged to "get involved" in £1.1M innovation competitions
12 October 2012
With a month to go until the deadline for applying for BBSRC's Fostering Innovation awards, Dr Celia Caulcott, BBSRC's Director of Innovation and Skills, is urging researchers to get involved.
"My message to everyone is join in a great experience. Either get involved personally or get your institution or knowledge exchange teams involved. There is something for everyone. Fostering Innovation 2013 is about encouraging, recognising and rewarding the excellent impacts made possible by the excellent research carried out by our community. It is not too late to get involved"
BBSRC launched the suite of competitions in September to recognise the full breadth of impacts from the research and capabilities that it funds. Building on the success of current impact competitions, such as 'Innovator of the Year', BBSRC has expanded the offering to recognise the many different people and skills involved in bringing impact to light.
Fostering Innovation 2013 is the umbrella name for three separate innovation competitions being run by BBSRC; Innovator of the year, Activating impact and Excellence with impact.
"These three innovation competitions offer individuals, teams and research institutions a stage on which to showcase their hard work. Great research makes great impact and we want everyone to have an opportunity to see this. Fostering Innovation 2013 is about recognising and celebrating what researchers are doing and encouraging them to highlight this to their peers, Government, industry and beyond."
The deadline for applications is 14 November 2012. To find out more about all three competitions, or to apply, visit: www.bbsrc.ac.uk/fosteringinnovation
