Excellence with Impact competition launched at Fostering Innovation finals - 21 March 2013. BBSRC

BBSRC's Excellence with Impact competition is now under way after being officially launched last night (20 March 2013) at the BBSRC Fostering Innovation awards in London.

Excellence with Impact forms part of BBSRC's Fostering Innovation suite of competitions alongside Innovator of the Year and Activating Impact.

All three are designed to promote innovation and delivery in translating world-leading bioscience research into benefits for people economically and socially, by working in partnership with research organisations to maximise impact.

The Excellence with Impact award acknowledges research organisations and BBSRC strategically-funded institutes for actively embedding a culture that recognises the importance of economic and social impact, alongside excellent research.

Building on the success of the inaugural award, this round will run from 2013 to 2016. Thirty-one of the UK's leading research organisations have entered the competition.

With awards totalling £1M, organisations are encouraged to develop and drive an ambitious strategy for supporting the wide range of impacts that can arise from bioscience research.

This scheme provides support and encouragement to participating organisations to amalgamate and capitalise on the many different people and skills involved in bringing the impact of their world-class bioscience to light.
