BBSRC Enterprise Fellow ambassador for Women’s Enterprise Scotland

BBSRC Enterprise Fellow ambassador for Women’s Enterprise Scotland - 4 April 2014. Hamish-Scott Brown

BBSRC Enterprise Fellow Dr Margaret Anne Craig has been announced as an ambassador for Women's Enterprise Scotland.

In March, Scottish Finance Secretary, John Swinney announced £35,000 of funding to establish new women's enterprise ambassadors. The ambassadors will act as role models and mentors for start-up and growth businesses to help tackle the gender gap in the sector.

In 2011, Dr Craig was awarded a BBSRC-RSE Enterprise Fellowship award, allowing her to develop and establish Clyde Biosciences – a University of Glasgow spin out company advancing the field of developmental drug testing. Dr Craig comments that the fellowship was pivotal to her personal and professional development and that the business training as part of the award provided her with much needed guidance and support.

Dr Margaret Anne Craig said: "It has been a fantastic opportunity and now Clyde Biosciences has become a serious contender in the field of cardiac toxicity screening and our technology platforms are being evaluated by the FDA. It is an exciting time."

"I am delighted to be asked to be a business ambassador and role model for Women's Enterprise Scotland at the launch of their new Framework and Action Plan for Women's Enterprise."
