Highlights from: 20 years of bioscience

The John Innes Centre, Institute of Food Research and The Genome Analysis Centre (TGAC) will be hosting an Open Lab afternoon on Wednesday 17 September for a limited number of artists, photographers, illustrators and creative people or anyone who wants to have a go and capture the perfect shot or gain inspiration for the exciting BBSRC competition – Images with Impact: the Great British Bioscience Image Competition.

The 'Images with Impact' competition is part of the BBSRC 20th Anniversary programme, which seeks to highlight Great British Bioscience and its importance in everyday life. There are fantastic prizes up for grabs, with a total prize fund of more than £2,400. Anyone can enter and any type of image may be submitted – photography, visualisations and illustrations. For further information see Images with Impact – BBSRC launches anniversary image competition.

This afternoon event will provide the opportunity to find out more about the pioneering research at three of the BBSRC institutes on the Norwich Research Park and to gain access to laboratories where current and cutting-edge research is taking place.

All those visiting the Institutes must agree to submit an image to the BBSRC Images with Impact competition

If you wish to come along then please register with dawn.rivett@nbi.ac.uk stating your preferred sessions, please allow time to move between venues! Or sign up for just one or two sessions, up to you. You will be given a tour to inspire your creative instincts and if needed you can arrange to come back and view a specific facility at a later date.

Submissions to the competition will close on 6 October 2014 so be creative and get snapping!
