Amendment 165

Revised pension scheme information in relation to auto-enrolment

Paragraph 7 of the main page of appendix A1.5, and paragraphs 1 and 3 of section B1: main page have been amended to reflect changes to the auto-enrolment into the JSS pension scheme for new starters.

Amendment 164

Distribution of exploitation income - new paragraph on payment in the event of death

Paragraph 3.4 (payment in the event of the death of a relevant employee) has been added in order to clarify the process in cases where there are no surviving dependants in receipt of benefits payable under the RCPS.

Amendment 163

Application for childcare vouchers

The code has been amended to reflect a change in the way that staff should apply for vouchers if they use UK SBS Ltd. Please see paragraph 5.1 of part 2 of section A3. The appropriate Best Practice Guidance Note has also been updated with this information (see paragraph 6 of part 1 of section A3) and also the current age range for which vouchers apply (up to 15 years, or 16 years for a child with a disability).

Amendment 162

Withdrawal of BBSRC guidance note on third party harassment

The link to the BBSRC guidance note called "Third party harassment - guidance note for BBSRC managers and employees" has been removed from paragraph 6 of part 1 of section A3 because the Government has announced that the third party harassment provisions which are contained in the Equality Act 2010, will be repealed from 1 October 2013.

Revised SMRG terms of reference

The terms of reference of the SMRG have been expanded so that it can act as a BBSRC Office panel in certain circumstances. Please see the final three bullet points of paragraph 6.2 of the main page of appendix A6.10.

Amendment 160

Revised JNCC arrangements/facility time

Amendments have been made to section A4 of the code to take into account the revised JNCC arrangements which introduced a new General Purpose Committee (as discussed at the JNCC meeting in March) and the Cabinet Office framework on facility time. Please note the new appendix 4.5.

Updated list of BBSRC establishments and change of name for the Shared Service Centre

Amendment 158

Compromise Agreement renamed Settlement Agreement

The employment code of practice (Settlement agreements) Order 2013, will come into force on 29 July 2013, and in response the BBSRC Standard Compromise Agreement, appendix A14.9 , has been renamed ‘Standard Settlement Agreement’.

References to "compromise agreement" in Appendix A14.10 have been changed to "settlement agreement".

Amendment 155

Review of the membership and terms of reference of the Senior Management Review Group

Following a review of the membership and terms of reference of the Senior Management Review Group, amendments have been made to section paragraph 6.2 of the main page of appendix A6.10 . See mainly paragraphs 6.1 and 6.2.

Amendment 154

Redeployment and redundancy guide

Paragraph 6.5 (voluntary redundancy) of appendix A14.2 has been amended to remove the wording that states it is not possible to withdraw notice once voluntary redundancy has been accepted. 

Paragraph 6.6.1 (written information given at the first meeting under compulsory redundancy procedure) has been amended to remove the statement that the option of voluntary redundancy is only available to individuals who have previously volunteered under the same scheme.

Amendment 152

Increase in parental leave from 13 weeks to 18 weeks

The right to unpaid parental leave increased from 13 weeks to 18 weeks from 8 March 2013. This change is required under the Parental Leave Directive (2010/18/EC), which increased the minimum parental leave provision from 3 to 4 months. Paragraph 7 of appendix 8.8  has been amended accordingly.

Amendment 151

Redundancy and redeployment

The options form (RC5) in appendix A14.7 has been amended to make it clear that redeployment to other establishments will only be to those that employ new staff on BBSRC terms and conditions of employment, and that if the employee elects to appeal, they have 20 working days to do so.

Mr R Lilley has replaced Mr J Philcox as the management nominee on the Redundancy and Redeployment Committee - see appendix A14.4i.

The other pages listed above have been amended to show that the Redeployment Committee is now the Redundancy and Redeployment Committee.
