Appendix A8.1

Annual leave allowances

The annual leave allowances shown in this table must be converted to working days using the table of annual leave equivalents shown below.

Pay band PC1
(w.e.f. 1 May 1994)
Allowance on appointment = 30 days
All other pay Bands
(w.e.f. start of leave year beginning on or after 1 July 2006):
  • On appointment or with less than 1 year's service - 5 weeks and 2 days
  • With 1 year's completed service the allowance increases to 5 weeks and 3 days
  • With 2 years' completed service the allowance increases to 5 weeks and 4 days
  • With 3 years' completed service the allowance increases to 5 weeks and 5 days
  • With 4 years' completed service the allowance increases to 6 weeks*

* this final step only results in an increase for employees who work a 5½ or 6 day week - see table of annual leave equivalents below.

N.B. if you are a part-timer your allowance must be converted to hours (see appendix A8.3), and you may also need to adjust your allowance if you are a shift worker (see appendix A8.4).
