Sharing and archiving of genetically altered mice

March 2009Download sharing and archiving of genetically altered mice

  • Sharing and archiving of genetically altered mice (PDF 621KB)

This booklet has been produced by an RSPCA working group (in association with the MRC, BBSRC, and NC3Rs) after discussions on how to reduce and refine the use of genetically-altered (GA) mice.

The number of GA mice used in scientific procedures within the UK and internationally has risen significantly over the last 15 years and continues to do so. The sharing and archiving of such animals is becoming an increasingly important means of both reducing and refining animal use to minimise suffering.

This booklet is aimed at scientists who work with animals.
