Bioscience niche research skills

October 2009

  • Strategically important and vulnerable capabilities in UK bioscience (PDF 128KB)

In May 2009, BBSRC and the Biosciences Federation (now the Society of Biology following a merge with the Institute of Biology) consulted the UK bioscience research community about concerns over potential shortages in strategically important and vulnerable niche areas of research expertise.

The responses to the consultation were considered by our BBSRC Biosciences Skills and Careers Strategy Panel.

A summary of the recommendations made by the panel to BBSRC are described in the report above.

Feedback

BBSRC welcomes feedback from the wider research base on the recommendations that have been made, and the evidence of strategic importance and vulnerability that has been presented.  Comments should be sent to the Skills Unit (see contact below).
