Audit Board
Reports to Council and meets three times a year.
The Audit Board is a requirement of the Combined Management Statement and Financial Memorandum on the relationship between the Council and BIS.
It provides a high level forum for monitoring standards of risk management, corporate governance, internal control and financial propriety.
Is responsible for:
- Reviewing the systems by which the Chief Executive and executive managers of the Council ensure the adequacy of the nature, extent and effectiveness of internal control and financial and other monitoring systems
- Focusing on the management of risk and contingency plans for all business critical projects and report to Council on any aspects which might prejudice Council operations
- Reviewing arrangements established by management for compliance with the BIS/BBSRC Management Statement and Financial Memorandum
- Reviewing the controls assurance statement required from the Chief Executive under corporate Governance requirements, issued from time to time by HM Treasury, and taking into account the work of external and internal audit and any other relevant information
