Bioscience for Industry Strategy Panel
Provides strategic input on industrial user needs and knowledge exchange activities.
Scope
The Panel will:
- Contribute to and advise on BBSRC strategies for business interaction, knowledge exchange and commercialisation (KEC), and innovation
- Advise on business needs (research, postgraduate training and skills) and relevance of BBSRC research strategy and the current research training portfolio to business
- Advise on the performance of BBSRC Institutes and Research Organisations with major investments from BBSRC in delivering knowledge exchange and commercialisation
- Advise on the performance of the BBSRC portfolio of mechanisms to support collaborative research, knowledge exchange and commercialisation including relationship with Technology Strategy Board (TSB) and impact
- Advise other BBSRC advisory bodies on issues relating to the above that are relevant to their activities

Reporting annually to Strategy Advisory Board on key issues relating to the above
Methods of working
- Two formal meetings per annum
- Ad hoc working groups (in collaboration with other BBSRC advisory bodies where appropriate) and discussion by correspondence
- Regular reports from and to BBSRC advisory bodies e.g. sector strategy groups, Bioscience Skills and Careers, Bioscience for Society as appropriate to enable the Panel to meet its responsibilities
- Regular reports from and to, as appropriate, other relevant bodies e.g. Follow-on Fund Assessment Panel, Club Steering Groups, Advanced Training Partnership Panel, Rainbow Seed Fund Board, TSB, Office of Life Sciences (OLS) as appropriate to enable the Panel to meet its responsibilities
- Regular reports on performance and evaluations of KEC mechanisms

The Panel will comprise 12 members and a Chair drawn from business sectors of relevance to BBSRC and experts in KEC (including business finance). In addition there will be observers from TSB and OLS.
