Multidisciplinary research

Bioscience research increasingly involves teams of scientists coming together from different disciplines to address a major challenge such as the nature of ageing or the impact of climate change.

This is reflected by the growing number of research programmes that are funded jointly by 2 or more Research Councils, and the proportion of BBSRC grant awards made to researchers in departments other than single-discipline biosciences.

We place significant emphasis on ensuring that bioscientists have the necessary access to tools and resources, many of which derive from advances in the physical and computational sciences.
