Equality, diversity and inclusion
We aim to embed diversity in all we do as an investor, employer, and partner fully reflecting the communities in which we work in order to ensure we are accessing the best input, talent and perspectives.
We value and promote an inclusive research community where diverse talent is used to advance discovery, develop skills and knowledge, and drive innovation in the UK.
Our aspiration is to:
- be recognised nationally and internationally as a leader in equality and inclusion in the research community
- eliminate unintentional bias from our systems, processes, behaviours and culture
- recognise, learn from and work with our partners to create inclusive research communities.
Our Equality and diversity strategy 2014-2017 (see downloads) sets out three pillars of activity:
- BBSRC as an investor.
- BBSRC as a partner.
- BBSRC as an employer.
It articulates how we will work to achieve this vision, the targets we will set and what we want to achieve by March 2017. The strategy is supported by an equality, diversity and inclusion action plan (see downloads).
BBSRC, as part of RCUK is making a key contribution to the achievement of the RCUK Action Plan for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (see external links) which has been endorsed by the Science Minister.
