UK BBSRC-US NSF/BIO Lead Agency Pilot

The pilot allowed US and UK researchers to submit a single collaborative proposal to undergo a single peer review process. The pilot accepted submissions in the areas of intersection between NSF/BIO and BBSRC (responsive mode only) as set out below:

Data driven bioscience
Systems approaches to the biosciences
Synthetic Biology (September 2015 submissions only)
- NSF/BIO Solicitations
Molecular and Cellular Biosciences (MCB)
Advances in Biological Informatics (ABI)
- The intersection areas include systems biology, computational biology, bioinformatics and synthetic biology (Autumn 2015 only). Applicants are strongly advised to read the BBSRC Responsive Mode priority areas and NSF/BIO solicitations, and to inquire with the appropriate cognizant officers in their national agency to gauge the suitability of their proposal for the pilot.
The MoU provides an overarching framework to encourage collaboration between US and UK research communities and sets out the principles by which jointly supported activities might be developed.
