Biotechnology Young Entrepreneurs Scheme (Biotechnology YES) is an innovative competition for postgraduate and postdoctoral scientists which raises awareness of the commercialisation of ideas from the biosciences.
Five residential workshops were held on 23-25 October 2013 in two locations (see related links) with participants forming teams of four or five where they developed an oral business plan based on a hypothetical idea. They were helped to do this through presentations and mentoring sessions from leading figures in industry.
At the end of the workshop, each team presented their hypothetical business plan to a panel posing as equity investors who then selected a winner.
The winners from the five regional workshops progress to this final where they will compete against each other for the Biotechnology YES 2013 title and other prizes.
The winners from the final round will be announced with a press release which will be linked to our Biotechnology Young Entrepreneurs scheme webpage (see related links), after the event.
