BBSRC genomics research evaluation

Summary
A review panel has provided an independent evaluation of two programmes of BBSRC-supported genomics research:
- The Investigating Gene Function (IGF) initiative
- Genomics research funded through responsive mode
Objectives
- To assess the quality of the research supported
- To identify the major outcomes and impacts arising from the research
- To assess the extent to which the original objectives of the IGF initiative were met
- To assess the extent to which the IGF initiative enabled the wider research community to incorporate genomics approaches and technologies into their research programmes
- To identify ways to build on successes and address identified gaps and issues
Evaluation findings
The panel based their findings on:
- Results of questionnaire surveys from a sample of:
- IGF initiative grant holders
- Responsive mode grant holders
- Information from BBSRC databases
