Public attitudes to diet and health research

In 2005, BBSRC and the Institute of Food Research commissioned MORI Social Research Institute to explore public attitudes and priorities on funding of diet and health research.

Next steps

The study highlighted some peoples’ concerns about a potential conflict of interest between industrial motives for funding research and public interest. We commissioned a separate study Attitudes to industry-funded research to explore this issue further.

Findings from the study have informed development of BBSRC's strategy for food research.
